Kathmandu, Oct 9: The government has planned to bring 20 bailey bridges from India. Preparation for this was made to ensure alternative crossing in places where bridges are damaged and swept away by floods and landslides.

The country witnessed nonstop rainfall on September 27-28 that claimed the lives of over 245 people and damaged a huge amount of property, prompting the government to declare 14 districts as disaster crisis zones for three months. This declaration will ensure that relief distribution and rehabilitation works can be carried out smoothly.

Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Devendra Dahal, shared information about the import of the bailey bridges during his inspection of the physical infrastructures that witnessed damages and destruction in the recent disaster in Sindhupalchowk. The truss bridges will be installed soon at Tatopani, he informed.

Three federal ministers visited Sindhupalchowk, Kavre and Sindhuli to gather information about the flood-hit places of the districts. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, and Minister Dahal held discussions with officials at the district offices and local people.

The ministers reached Khurkot and inspected the damages rendered to the Khurkot Bridge linking Sindhuli with Ramechhap district, and also surveyed the Bhotekoshi area of Sindhupalchok.

Local people’s representatives, security chiefs, and the Chief District Officer shared information about the damages incurred to roads, bridges, and the immediate need for relief distribution, rehabilitation, and reconstruction. #truss #bridge #bailey
