Manang: The Himalayan sheep found in the high Himalayan region is called Naur. Naur is found at an altitude of about 3000 meters to more than 5000 meters above sea level.

These mammals are found in almost all the northern Himalayan districts of Nepal. This animal, which likes to live in a herd, weighs more than one hundred kilograms.

Among the five species of Naur, Himalayan Sheep Naur is found only in Nepal. Naur descends towards downside during winter. The wild animals of the mountains that enjoy the snow line tend to come down with the cold.

This animal is found in Nepal’s Langtang, Makalu Barun National Park, Dhorpatan Reserve, Manang, Mustang and Shey Phoksundo National Park in Dolpa. Dhorpatan hunting reserve is a famous place for hunting Naur. Foreigners also come here to Naur hunting.

They are also known as the main food of snow leopards.
