Inclusive governance essential for national unity: Minister Gurung



Kathmandu, Dec 26: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said inclusive society contributes to strengthening national unity.

In his address to a ceremony marking the launch of the Gorkhapatra news bulletin in the Wambule Rai language at the Ministry on Thursday, the Minister stressed that inclusive character should be reflected in each dynamic of the society.

“Our constitution has envisaged a participatory society and the State should reflect it in the federal governance as well,” he reminded. This State is for all and the inclusion is a means of instilling ownership in each community. The inclusive governance is a must to promote national unity.”

On the occasion, Gorkhapatra Sansthan (Corporation) Chair Bishnu Prasad Subedi said the Gorkhapatra has been publishing news contents in various languages under the New Nepal section since 2064 BS to enforce inclusion. As he informed, the Gorkhapatra is currently providing news contents in 45 languages.

Corporation’s General Manager Lal Bahadur Airee requested the Ministry to increase a budget for the organisations in views of its expanding services.

Wambule Language Society Chair Gajurdhan Rai stressed that it is the responsibility of the State to protect and promote all languages that are spoken in the country. He said the Society is working to protect the Wambule language that is on the verge of extinction.

The poet and composer of the lyrics of the National Anthem, Byakul Maila, expressed his happiness over the government’s latest policies capable of addressing the concerns of people and communities belonging to different languages.
