International conference on experience sharing on sustainable technology kicks off



Kathmandu, Oct 22: An international conference on advanced materials has kicked off here at Budhanilkantha from today. Jointly organized by Nepal Polymer Institute, Tribhuvan University, College of Biomedical Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University Gorakhpur, India and IPW Germany, the event entitled ‘Kathmandu Symposia on Advanced Materials, Fifth Series’, will run till October 24.

The main objective of the conference is to establish the collaboration among scientists from South Asia carrying out study and research in material science and promoting relations with the world scientists.

Discussions will be held in the conference focusing on new and smart materials, green and sustainable technology, recycling economy, micro-materials based on nano-bio technology, tissue engineering and computational technology.

Nepal Polymer Institute chairperson and Conference coordinator Prof Dr Rameshwar Adhikari said this symposium has been organized for presenting before the world community the latest studies and research on nano-bio, green and sustainable technology carried out so far and being conducted in Nepal.

Professors, scientists, researchers, young scientists and students from 16 different countries including Nepal, France, Germany, South Africa, Japan, India, America and China have been participating in the conference.

A day-long short course on ‘ Recent Advances in Smart and Functional Materials’ and Nepal-India Special Symposium would also be organized targeting the young scientists.

Around 200 scientists across the world would participate in the conference where 130 working papers would be presented.

Young Scientist Dr Shankar Khatiwada expected that the conference would help in promotion of study and research activities conducted in the sector of material science and especially in nano/bio technology as well as play important role for Nepali scientists to build collaboration with scientists across the world.

Vice-Chancellor of the Tribhuvan University, Prod Dr Keshar Jung Baral and Vice-Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, Prof Dr Poonam Tandon would address the conference. #science
