Killing of Muna Pandey: Houston Police arrests one person

Kathmandu, Aug 29: The Houston Police Department of United States of America has said that an arrest has been made in connection with the death of 21-year-old Muna Pandey.

According to fox26houston.com, however, it’s unclear if that is the person that was arrested by authorities on Wednesday.  No other details have been released by authorities.

Houston police are searching for a man captured on surveillance video exiting an apartment two days before a 21-year-old college student from Nepal was found shot to death in her southwest Houston home on Monday evening.

Muna Pandey, a student pursuing a nursing degree and working as a sales representative, was discovered with gunshot wounds in her apartment at The Reserve, located at 6363 W Airport Boulevard, around 5:30 p.m. Monday. The discovery came after complex staff received an anonymous tip about a body inside the apartment and subsequently contacted authorities.

Those who knew Pandey described her as kind, intelligent, and a cherished friend. Her death has deeply impacted the Nepalese community in Houston, which is now in touch with her mother overseas.

Bertin Alvarado, a friend of Pandey, expressed his shock and sorrow, saying, “You always hear on the news about some young girl, and whenever you think it can be one of your friends, it’s just shocking.”

Alvarado and members of the Nepalese Association of Houston, including President Rabin Shrestha, have called for justice. Shrestha remarked on the tragedy, noting that Pandey, who lived alone and had few close family members nearby, was a promising student and a valued community member.

Police have released a photograph of an unidentified man walking out of Pandey’s apartment two days before her body was found.

“There’s no hiding. We’re going to find you,” Alvarado said to whomever is responsible. “With the help of police and all of social media, we’re going to narrow it down where you’re at and we’re going to get justice for Muna.”
