Pokhara, June 25: A person has died after being struck by lightning in Pokhara.
The District Police Office, Kaski identified the deceased as Dev Bahadur BK, 49, of Harpan of Pokhara metropolis-23.
He was hit by the lightning as he was about to lock the house door at 11:30 pm on Saturday. Severely injured, he was pronounced dead in a local hospital at 2:20 am today.
The body has been kept at the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara Academy of Health Science for post-mortem examinations.
Two dead, one injured due to lightning
Two children have died after being struck by lightning in Baglung. The incident took place at 9:00 pm on Saturday night when lightning struck the house of Chitra Bahadur BK in Pakhapani of Dhorpatan Municipality-5.
Due to the strike, BK’s six-year-old son Dinesh and nine-year-old daughter Sunita died. Chitra Bahadur’s wife Yam Kumari BK was injured in the incident, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madan KC.
A buffalo at a shed near the house was also killed by the lightning. Yam Kumari is undergoing treatment at the local hospital. Meanwhile, a person died and two others were injured in a road accident that took place at Dhamja in Kathekhola Rural Municipality-3 on Saturday night.
According to the police, 18-year-old Bijay BK of Dhamja was killed when a jeep (Dha. 1 Ja. 7190) met with an accident on its way to Dhamja from district headquarters Baglung Bazaar. BK died on the spot. The injured were brought to Baglung headquarters for treatment.
The jeep reportedly fell down about 50 meters from the road.
One killed in road accident
One person has died in a road accident that took place last night in Chowki tole of Hetauda sub-metropolitan city-2.
Amit Kapadi, 25 years old resident of Hetauda-1 Jaruwatol, who was pillion riding a scooter, was hit by a tipper truck (Ba. Pra. 03-001B 851) coming from the opposite direction. Seriously injured, Kapadi died during treatment at the hospital, District Police Office Makwanpur, Police Inspector Ramchandra Ghimire said.
The person riding the scooter sustained minor injuries and returned home after treatment. Meanwhile, the tipper driver has been detained by the police for necessary investigation.
