Living Goddess Kumari taken to visit Pachali Bhairab

Kathmandu, Oct 9: The living Goddess Kumari was taken to visit Pachali Bhairab. It is customary for Kumari to visit Pachali Bhairab at Hanuman Dhoka every year on the day of Asoj Shukla Panchami.

Kumari was taken to Hanuman Dhoka on Tuesday evening after performing the procession of Bhairab from Pachali Peeth of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12. With this, it is believed that Kumari will get strengths.

The procession started from Pachali with special musical instruments had marched around the inner cities including Teku, Lagan, Jyabahal, Maru, Hanumandhoka, Dalachhi, Shwetbhairav and Yangal. It is believed that Bhairab has been established in Teku to ward off various evil forces and to protect the citizens and the Kathmandu Valley.

Bhairav Jatra is considered the biggest festival of the Newar community in Kathmandu. The Jatra will be accomplished once taking back Bhairab to Teku again, said Kathmandu metropolis-12 ward member Shyam Krishna Khadgi.
