Local administration issue prohibitory order in Kapilvastu’s Maharajgunj

Kathmandu, March 21: Local administration have imposed a prohibitory order in Maharajgunj of Kapilvastu District to prevent escalation of tensions between Hindu and Muslim communities.

According to the District Administration Office, the order came into effect from 2:00 PM, restricting any form of gatherings, assemblies, rallies, and demonstrations within designated areas. The restricted zone includes Bargadi Bridge in the east, Bahadurgunj Chowk in the west, Maharajgunj Bazaar in the north, and Hardauna in the south.

Acting Chief District Officer Bhawishwar Ghimire said the decision was taken after a dispute intensified along the border of Ward No. 2 and 3 during the celebrations of Eid by the Muslim community and Navaratri by the Hindu community.

Police have urged both sides to exercise restraint and maintain peace, as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. #nepal #curfew
