Maoist will contest upcoming polls without allying, Chairman Prachanda says



Kathmandu, Oct 5: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has announced that his party will contest upcoming by-elections and the general elections without allying with other political forces.

Addressing a programme here today organized by CPN (Maoist Centre) Dolakha-Kathmandu Liaison-Coordination Committee, Prachanda said that his party’s identity was weakened as it contested polls by forging alliances with Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) in the past.

Now, the Maoist Centre is preparing to compete in polls independently and its beginning will be done from the upcoming by-elections to be held this November, according to Dahal.

The former Prime Minister argued that the initiatives taken by his government in the past for good-governance, social justice and economic prosperity have created new hopes and attractions to his party.

On the occasion, he stressed for the party’s organizational strengthening and mass mobilization, Dahal’s secretariat said.

Likewise, he said that his party took crucial steps in the time of the recent monsoon-induced disasters and added that his party was in the frontline to serve the people in this tough time.

On the occasion, Prachanda asked the party leaders and cadres to chart out programmes for the service of the needy people and shared that the intellectuals and cadres of other political parties too have asked him to take the lead to further strengthen people’s rights.

Also speaking at the event, Maoist Centre’s Vice Chairman Agni Sapkota said that the party’s entire central committee was united under the leadership of Chairman Dahal and shared that the upcoming central committee meeting of the party would unveil the programmes for party building and mass mobilization.
