Minister Dr Timilsina instructs for immediate telephone, internet facility in Badimalika



Kathmandu, July 24: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina has instructed the bodies concerned to immediately provide telephone and internet services in Badimalika area of Bajura.

Paying serious concern about the telephone problem at the touristic area, Badimalika, Minister Dr Timilsina issued such directive.

He also asked to make arrangement for transporting the required equipment through helicopter immediately as there is no situation to transport it via road network.

During the meeting held at the Ministry today, the Nepal Telecom expressed commitment to bringing the telephone service in operation within August 16.

The Telecom further said equipment have already been transported to Dhangadhi, Kailali for the construction of telephone tower and it would be easier to complete the construction activities soon if Nepali Army chopper is available.

Minister Dr Timilsina held discussion with Bibek Mishra, Information, Communication and Technology advisor to the Prime Minister, today, for the expansion of telephone and internet services at touristic and remote areas like Badimalika at the earliest.

Discussion was also held on the issue of closing online betting apps and controlling online fraud during the meeting with Mishra.

Similarly, the Communications Minister discussed with Mayor of Badimalika municipality, Amar Bahadur Khadka, about infrastructure required for this purpose today itself. He also enquired about the condition of road network there.

The Nepal Telecom has been working in accordance with government’s commitment to expanding internet service in remote areas of the country. A target has been set to launch 4G service at Badimalika temple area. Badimalika temple lies 4200 meters above the sea level.

Study has been forwarded to launch 4G service even in Sagarmatha base camp area, stated the Nepal Telecom. The government has been carrying out activities with priority for the expansion of telephone and internet service at remote places of the country.

The Ministry has been working with the priority of reducing digital division and providing quality communication services to all citizens. #nepal #rss
