Mustang, Oct 28: The District Administration Office (DAO), Mustang, has urged trekkers to refrain from trekking in the high mountain areas of the district following a weather alert issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
According to the Department, weather conditions in the high-altitude regions are expected to remain unfavorable until Wednesday, with forecasts of light to heavy snowfall across several trekking routes. As of Tuesday morning, the Muktinath area has already been blanketed by fresh snowfall.
Snowfall is predicted in the Yakkharka area at an altitude of around 5,800 meters in Mustang and Dolpa districts, as well as at Thorang-La Pass and Saribung Pass in Manang and Mustang districts. Similarly, Dhampus Peak along the Dhaulagiri trekking route, which stretches across Mustang and Myagdi districts, is also expected to witness snowfall.
Issuing a public notice on Monday evening, Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal urged all trekkers to avoid these routes for safety reasons.
