Chitwan, Sept 20: A series of landslides has blocked the Narayangadh–Muglin road at Tuin Rivulet in Chitwan.
The slides, which began around 6:00 pm on Friday, have buried nearly 100 meters of the road. According to Narayan Lamichhane, chief of the Division Road Office in Chitwan, debris has been falling from about 100 meters above the road throughout the night, making it impossible to clear the section earlier.
Efforts to remove the deposits started early this morning. One loader from each side of the obstruction and an excavator from the Seti Dobhan camp have been mobilized to clear the area. Lamichhane estimated that traffic could resume within four hours if no further landslides occur, though boulders are still rolling down the slope.
The same stretch had been cleared on Friday afternoon to reopen traffic, but fresh landslides later in the evening again blocked the route, leaving passengers stranded overnight.
The affected site lies about 2.5 kilometers from Muglin towards Narayangadh. #nepal #landslide
