National Transplant Centre gets land soon: Minister Basnet



Kathmandu, Dec 23: Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has said government had initiated process to provide land required for the expansion of Martyr Dharmabhakta National Transplant Centre (MDNTC).

At the first National Transplant Conference jointly organised by MDNTC and Nepalese Society of Organ Transplant, here today, Minister Basnet mentioned that the process to provide land to the centre was forwarded following the direction of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
“We will provide land in Bhaktapur and Nagarjun soon for the expansion of the Centre. The Ministry is committed to address this issue as soon as possible”, he vowed.

The Minister pointed out the need of immediate amendment to Medical Education Act to prevent human resources crunch in health sector in future.
Similarly, a member of the House of Representatives, Rajendra Pandey, laid emphasis on amendment of the Medical Education Act, as problem had surfaced in producing technical human resources in health sector.

Seventy-three nursing colleges were closed in lack of amendment to the Act, according to him.

Likewise, former minister Mahesh Basnet, lawmaker Ranju Jha, Centre Director Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha, emphasized on making the Centre modern and well-equipped. RSS
