The health condition of Nepal Congress leader and Member of the House of Representatives, Chandra Bhandari, is improving and artificial respiratory support would be lifted from tomorrow.

Bhandari, who was seriously injured in the fire caused by cooking gas leak in Kathmandu, is currently receiving treatment in India. He is under treatment at National Burn Centre, Mumbai, India since February 16.

NC leader, Yograj Kandel, informed that leader Bhandari would be kept in reservoir bag mask with only five litres of oxygen this night and there would be only reservoir bag mask from next day.

According to Dr Sunil Keshwani of National Burn Centre, leader Bhandari would no longer need ET Tube and even the infection was reducing. ET Tube is the endotracheal tube used for critically ill patients.

New skin was seen on leader Bhandari’s face, but the new skin on hands was slow and would take one more week. Doctors will conduct grafting only the new skin appears on hands.

Leader Kandel further informed that Bhandari’s health condition was improving encouragingly. Possibly in four days, he could be taken out from Intensive Burn Care Unit, as per the doctors.

Leader Dr Bhandari and his mother Harikal were injured seriously in the fire caused by the gas leakage in his residence in Kathmandu on February 15. Although they were rushed to the Kirtipur-based Burn Hospital for treatment, mother Harikala breathed her last during the treatment within a day.

However, leader Bhandari was taken to India for further treatment. Twenty-five to thirty percent of his body (limbs and face) was burnt in the fire.RSS
