Kathmandu, Dec 21: Mr. Kumar Rai, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal in the State of Qatar, visited Al Khor Family Park & Zoo on Friday, accompanied by First Secretary Mr. Amar Rai.
According to the Embassy, during the visit, the Nepali delegation was received and briefed by Dr. Mohammad Al Khayareen, Director of the Zoo, on the recently arrived pair of elephants – Rudrakali (female) and Khagendra Prasad (male) – gifted by the Government of Nepal to the State of Qatar. The briefing covered the elephants’ acclimatization, care arrangements, and the facilities in place to ensure their well-being.
The pair of elephant were airlifted from Bhairahawa Airport of Nepal to Qatar on December 17, 2025.
Mr. Rai appreciated the zoo management for the professional care being provided to the elephants and highlighted the gift as a symbol of the longstanding friendship and growing cooperation between Nepal and Qatar. He noted that the gesture reflects the spirit of goodwill and people-to-people ties shared by the two countries.
Dr. Al Khayareen welcomed the Nepali delegation and reaffirmed the zoo’s commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare, stating that the elephants would be cared for in accordance with international best practices.
