NEPSE breaks record of highest turnover on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The NEPSE index closed at 1,782.81 on first day of the week, gaining 4.69 points from last week’s close. On the last trading day last week, NEPSE had gained an enormous 36.32 points.

Because of this massive intra-day gain, it is natural to have the big day followed by a day of uncertainty. Thus, NEPSE witnessed intense intra-day action on Sunday, with the highest point being 1,811.63 and the lowest being 1,761.75. Thus, the index played in an impressively wide range of 49.88 points today.

16,034,717 shares traded hands via 63,570 transactions. This is the second-highest transaction figure seen in a single day in NEPSE’s history. Trading of 201 scrips brought the total turnover to a little over Rs. 6.90 Arba.

Thus, this is also the highest single-day turnover in NEPSE’s history. Interestingly enough, this figure is rivaled by the turnover figure of the last trading session, when NEPSE gained Rs. 6.11 Arba worth of turnover last Thursday.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) has the highest individual scrip turnover of a little over Rs. 57.91 crores. Meanwhile, the shares of Prabhu Bank Limited (PRVU) gained the most. PRVU is also the third-highest gainer today, gaining an impressive 6.71%.
