NEPSE tumbles 96.88 points amidst political instability

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index lost 96.88 points and closed at 1,935.63 on Sunday. This is most probably a reaction to chances of political instability in the country in the days to come.

On Sunday morning, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had recommended and President Bidya Devi Bhandari approved the dissolution of the Federal Parliament.

The index opened at 2,046.57 today. The market-open itself is the intraday high and the index only lost after that. The market-close is also the intraday low itself.

14,509,533 shares traded hands via 79,967 transactions. Trading of 198 scrips brought the total market turnover to a little over Rs. 9.04 Arba.

The float index lost 5.86 points and closed at 132.06 while the Sensitive index is at 369.55 after losing 16.39 points.
