Newly appointed Chief Minister of Karnali Shahi takes oath



SURKHET: Newly appointed Chief Minister of the Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi took oath of office and secrecy this evening.

Chief Minister Shahi took oath before Karnali Chief Govinda Prasad Kalauni.

Earlier, Leader Shahi had submitted his claim to the post of Chief Minister before the Chief of the Province at 4:00 pm today with the support of 21 state assembly members, including six from the ruling Nepali Congress, 12 from the CPN (Maoist Center) and three from the CPN (Unified Socialist).

The Province chief appointed Shahi as the chief minister after only his claim was received within the deadline of 7.30 pm today.

The Karnali Provincial Assembly currently has 35 members. The ruling coalition party has six members from the Central Congress, 12 from the CPN-Maoist Center and 21 from the CPN (Unified Socialist).

CPN-UML has 13 members in the state assembly, including the speaker, and RPP has one member.
