Kathmandu : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said that its attention has been drawn towards the passage of Information Technology Bill, brought curtailing the freedom of expression, from the Development and Technology Committee of the Parliament.
A press release issued by NHRC Secretary, Bed Prasad Bhattarai, said that the NHRC is confident that the laws related to freedom of expression and opinion would be formulated in accordance with related national and international laws.
The NHRC also urged all concerned sides to hold discussion with stakeholders and formulate laws where every person can completely enjoy freedom of expression.
The bill was against the verdict of Supreme Court, reads the press release. Different international human rights laws have established freedom of expression as fundamental human rights.
