Vice President Yadav applauds country’s ‘leap’ in eye treatment services



Parsa, Feb 24: Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has said that Nepal’s hospitals are making strides in ophthalmic treatment services.

Inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of Ramkumar Mahaveer Prasad Kedia Eye Hospital here today, he said the Hospital’s making a leap in eye treatment was a matter of pride not only for the Madhes Province, but also for the entire country.

“The Kedia Eye Hospital has been providing quality healthcare services not only to the people of Madhes but also to those from Bagmati and neighbouring country, India,” he said on the occasion. Vice President Yadav said that Kedia Eye Hospital has been providing easy access to eye patients for the last 50 years and urged it to provide more affordable and quality services in the coming days as well.

He also laid the foundation stone of the ‘vision pillar’ and the new proposed building of the hospital on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the hospital on Monday. Rajesh Kumar Kedia, chairman of Ramkumar Mahaveer Prasad Kedia Eye Hospital, said the five-bed eye hospital at Loharpatti in Birgunj established 50 years ago has now been upgraded into a 175-bed facility.

“In the last 50 years, the Hospital has treated more than 2.7 million patients. During this period, we have carried out about 400,000 eye surgeries. Of these, 182,000 patients have been provided with free eye surgeries. In the coming days, we announce to set up an eye bank and also make the hospital’s services even better,” he said.

Prof Dr Sunu Dulal was honoured with the Late Hiralal Kedia Honour on the occasion. She was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 251,151.#nepal #hospitals #ophthalmic treatment services #rss
