KATHMANDU: The Office of the President has informed that no party or parties presented their claim of forming new majority government as per Article 76(2) of the Constitution.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has provided a three day time period expiring Thursday evening at 9.00 pm. A press release issued by the Office of the President says that no party has claimed for forming next government within the specified time period.
In a marathon meetings among the parties today, main opposition party Nepali Congress failed to get support from disgruntled Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) leaders, particularly from Chairman Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato.
The JSP leaders, Thakur and Mahato, were more attached with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. They argued that Prime Minister Oli was listening to address their grievances more than Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre). They discussed with PM Oli several rounds today and met with the President as well.
In other development, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Oli held discussion with it’s disgruntled leader, particularly with senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. They decided to address differences in the coming days with consensus.
With the opposition parties failed to claim for the next government, KP Sharma Oli again will claim for the next government as minority. Such government has to prove majority in the parliament within 30 days.
