Pathibhara Cable Car dispute: Six-point agreement reached, protest called off



Kathmandu, Feb 4: A six-point agreement has been reached between the government’s negotiation team and representatives of concerned parties regarding the Pathibhara Mukkumlung cable car construction dispute.

The government had formed a negotiation team led by Home Ministry Joint Secretary Prem Prasad Bhattarai to resolve the conflict that arose during the construction of the cable car in the Pathibhara (Mukkumlung) area of Taplejung.

After negotiations held in two phases on Monday and Tuesday, both sides reached a six-point agreement. As per the agreement, the construction company will halt work on the upper station of the cable car, while the protesting party has decided to suspend its protest programs.

Key points of the agreement

Suspension of construction work on the upper station:
The construction work on the upper station of Pathibhara Cable Car will be suspended, and detailed discussions on the station will be conducted in the next meeting.

Free and effective medical treatment for injured protesters:
The government will provide free and effective medical treatment for those injured during the protests, as previously announced.

Investigation and legal action on the incident of 12th Magh 2081
A detailed investigation will be carried out regarding the incident that occurred on Magh 12, 2081 BS, and necessary legal action will be taken.

Immediate unconditional release of detained protesters:
The process for the unconditional release of protesters currently in detention will begin immediately.

Suspension of indefinite transportation strike:
The transportation strike called by the Mukkumlung protection group will be suspended.

Follow-up meeting for further discussion:
A follow-up meeting will be held on Magh 27, 2081 to discuss in detail the disagreements related to the Pathibhara Cable Car project raised by the Mukkumlung protection group. #nepal #pathivara
