Police apprehends four with Rs 68 lakhs cash



Kathmandu, Dec 18: Acting on specific information about illegal hundi transactions taking place on the road section of Shambhu Marg near the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a police team deployed from the Gaushala Police Circle apprehended four individuals and seized cash worth Rs 68 lakhs (Rs 6.8 million) along with five checks specifying monetary amounts.

According to the District Police Office, the cash was discovered during the inspection of a Hyundai Creta car with license plate number Province 3-01-022 Cha 1972. The police have taken the cash, checks, and four individuals into custody for further investigation under Section 125(a) of the amended Criminal Code Act, 2074, which prohibits illegal hundi transactions.

The individuals arrested are:

  1. Raj Kumar Mali, 46, resident of Dovanpul, Ward 32, Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
  2. Awad Singh, 18, resident of New Baneshwor, Ward 10, Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
  3. Yuvraj Subedi, 27, resident of Ward 5, Birtamod Municipality, Jhapa.
  4. Prabesh Kumar Paudel, 32, resident of Ward 7, Arjundhara Municipality, Jhapa, currently living in Ward 7, Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The police continue their investigation into the case.
