Ministry of Health and Population

Kathmandu, Dec 18: The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a circular to ensure minimum wages and benefits for nursing and health workers.

Dr. Raj Kumar Pandey, Chief of the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division of the Ministry, issued the circular to government hospitals, medical colleges, and all community private hospitals to provide essential nursing facilities.

Dr. Pandey stated that the circular was prompted by complaints received by the Ministry regarding the lack of benefits and facilities for nursing staff. Additionally, the ministry has instructed hospitals to provide extra allowances for work done beyond regular hours.

Furthermore, hospitals have been directed to hire human resources on a contractual basis, rather than as wage employees, and not to retain original educational certificates of staff.

Upon completion of their work, staff should be given a letter of experience, and remuneration for nursing and other health workers should be paid exclusively through the banking system. #nepal #health #insurance
