Kathmandu, June 15: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has said entry of competent and excellent workforce into the government service is the need of hour. Only such workforce can face present challenges and solve problems, he argued.
During his address to the 74th anniversary of the Public Service Commission (PSC) here today, the Vice President suggested PSC to ensure such selection of employees that they become able managers and guarantee change to the people.
The PSC was also suggested to continue its image of the institution that does justice to present generation and instill hope to future generation.
The employee selection and assessment of qualification could be revised as per time, he viewed.
Vice President Yadav mentioned that the principles the PSC has adopted like fairness, quality, inclusion, neutrality, equal opportunity and privacy to carry out its responsibilities have earned public trust, which should be kept intact.
He hailed the role PSC played over these years to fulfill constitutional responsibility of employee selection for the civil service, the permanent government.
On the occasion, PSC Chairman Madhav Prasad Regmi said PSC was established as a leading institution for selection and recruitment of employees in civil service and State-run corporations.
Not only for civil service, PSC was selecting and recruiting the employees in security agencies and State-run corporations which provide public services.
This process is being made further objective, timely and credible, he informed, arguing that that it would make PSC further trustworthy.
According to him, a committee was formed under the coordination of PSC member to furnish recommendation for test process reform, which would help improve curriculum and test system.
Former member of PSC, Bhim Dev Bhatta, was honoured on the occasion. Bhatta, an expert on administration, was the PSC member from 2059BS to 2065BS.
Other best performing employees were also honoured in the programmes.
The event was attended by chiefs of constitutional bodies, chief secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal, chiefs of security agencies, general secretary at federal parliament secretariat and other high level government officials. #nepal #psc
