Kathmandu, Feb 10: A visiting Qatari delegation on Monday held discussions with Nepal’s political leadership and key stakeholders on economic development, tourism promotion, and areas of mutual cooperation between Nepal and Qatar.
The delegation is in Nepal at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). According to the FNCCI, separate meetings were held with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anil Kumar Sinha and Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai. The meetings were attended by Mishal bin Mohammed Ali Al-Ansari, Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal; Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of FNCCI; Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, Board Member of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and representatives of Qatar Airways.
During discussions at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the participants focused on strengthening cooperation in economic development, tourism promotion, expansion of air connectivity, and civil aviation. Minister Sinha stated that the government is prioritising policy reforms and facilitation measures to expand tourism, investment, and trade in Nepal.
Similarly, talks with Foreign Secretary Rai centred on policy facilitation for investment, bilateral investment promotion, prospects for Qatari investment in Nepal, and future economic collaboration. Rai noted that Nepal is an attractive destination for foreign investment, particularly in the energy, tourism, infrastructure, and information technology sectors.
Ambassador Al-Ansari reiterated Qatar’s interest in expanding cooperation in the economic and tourism sectors and stated that the Qatari Embassy in Nepal stands ready to facilitate Qatari investments.
FNCCI President Dhakal highlighted Nepal’s vast potential in tourism, investment, aviation, hotels, and infrastructure, while underscoring attractive opportunities for Qatari investors in hydropower, tourism, agriculture, and service sectors.
Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli expressed the Qatari private sector’s interest in long-term economic cooperation, noting that strengthened partnerships in aviation and tourism would further enhance bilateral trade and people-to-people ties, according to the FNCCI. #nepal #fncci #trade
