SEBON instructed brokers to reduce commission by 33%

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has decided to decrease the commission on buy and sale of securities in the secondary market from investors.

The board has decided to decrease the commission rate by 33% which means from 0.60% – 0.40% commission, the commission has declined to 0.40% – 0.27%. The decision will come in to effect from coming Sunday.

The brokers are obliged to charge 0.40% up to the transaction amount of Rs. 50,000, 0.37% up to the amount greater than Rs. 50,000 but less than Rs. 500,000.

Similarly, amount higher than 500,000 and less than Rs. 2,000,000 will be charged 0.34%. 0.30% will be charged to amount greater than Rs. 2,000,000 but less than Rs. 10,000,000, and amount higher than Rs. 10,000,000 will be charged 0.27%.

The Minister of Finance Bishnu Poudel had recently instructed the SEBON officials to decrease the broker commission immediately. The investors were demanding to reduce the broker commission for a long time.
