U-19 Women’s World Cup Cricket: Nepal defeated by Scotland



Kathmandu, Jan 20: Nepal has been defeated by Scotland in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup cricket tournament held today in Malaysia.

Nepal lost to Scotland by one wicket in their second match at the UKM Oval cricket ground in Malaysia. Scotland, who chased the victory target of 74 runs, completed it by losing nine wickets in 18.4 overs.

Pippa Sproul contributed the most for Scotland with 35 runs. She hit three fours in 47 balls and contributed 35 runs. Similarly, Gabriella Fontenla added 12 runs. On the bowling side, Nepal’s Simna KC and Rachana Chaudhary took two wickets each, while Captain Puja Mahato and Krishma Gurung took one wicket each.

Before that, Nepal, who won the toss and batted first, lost all wickets in 18.5 overs and were reduced to 73 runs. Captain Puja Mahato scored the highest 27 runs for Nepal. She hit three fours in 43 balls.

Similarly, apart from Savitri Dhami adding 10 runs, other batters could not add runs in double figures. For Scotland, Maisie Maceira alone took five wickets, while Amelie Baldie and Nayma Sheikh took two wickets each. Similarly, Kirsty McColl took a wicket.

This is Nepal’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament. In the first match, Nepal was defeated by Bangladesh. With the win, Scotland has strengthened its chances of reaching the Super Six. Scotland lost to Australia in the first match. #nepal #sport #RSS
