State should give due respect to artists: President Paudel



Kathmandu, Feb 12: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the state should not hesitate to honour the artists who have the ability to express various aspects of human sensibilities.

Addressing the ‘Natikaji National Distinguished Music Honors and Awards Ceremony’ organized by the Natikaji Memorial Society here Wednesday, the Head of the State said that music is one of the symbols of a civilized and cultured society.

Therefore, the government and the concerned sides should always work for the respect of the creators, artists, musicians and singers, and for the preservation of culture and the development of music. Mentioning that Natikaji’s contribution to the creation of modern music following the Nepali folk tradition is exemplary, President Paudel said that the awareness, love, patriotism and human sensibility in Natikaji’s creations have made him immortal.

President Paudel said, “Patriotic timeless songs, especially of Natikaji, have enhanced the glory of Nepali music by deepening the love for the motherland. The power of music is unparalleled, it is also the basis of common language, property and national identity.”

Stating that literature, art, song, music are the basis for strengthening national unity by promoting love, friendship and brotherhood in our country which is multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-cultural with unique geographical diversity, President Paudel said that art, music and literature were a thread that unites all into social unity and harmony.

Also addressing the event, Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Pandey said that Natikaji’s songs are an inspiration to all for glory and optimism.The society chair Musician Shambhujeet Baskota shared that the old and young musicians and artists were felicitated on the birth centenary of music legend Natikaji.

Senior journalist Dhana Lama, lyricist Buddha Bir Lama, singer Diwakar Khadka, lyricist Kiran KC Krodhi, Yashoda Parajuli, Bimal Bhaukaji and Prakash Sayami were awarded with the Natikaji National Distinguished Music Award.

Similarly, singer Himal Sagar, singer Bindu Pariyar, lyricist B Pandey, music composer Ashish Aviral and music composer Samrat Thapa were honored with the Natikaji National Song Award. Natikaji National Talent Award went to song recordist Bhola Poudel, singer David Shankar, singer Smita Dahal and music composer Kalyan Singh.

Furthermore, Dr Ramesh Pokharel was honored with the Natikaji National Classical Music Award while journalists Sushil Aryal and Sukrit Nepal were awarded with the Natikaji National Art Journalism Award.Natikaji National Folk Music Award went to folk singers Ram Prasad Awasthi, Sushma Shahi Thakuri and Krishna Bikal.#nepal #political #rss
