Kathmandu, Dec 20: The Water and Energy Commission Secretariat, Nepal, held a discussion on strategy draft for necessary coordination and direction to Global Water Leadership Programme.
The draft presented in the meeting held on Wednesday mentions that strategic coordination of the Secretariat was essential to materialize the Global Water Leadership Programme.
On the occasion, Commission Secretary Sarita Dawadi shared that there is lack of implementation of policy, institutional coordination, statistics and capacity building.
Dawadi pointed out that policies formulated by the government to carry out activities in water resources sector should be implemented and concerned ministries should make institutional coordination.
Finance consultant Ganesh Raj Joshi laid emphasis on collaboration of three tier governments and non-government organisations for financial cooperation.
Representative of Water Resources Development Organisation, Bitu Krishna Upreti, shared that there should be regulation along with guarantee of environmental assessment for water, sanitation and hygiene, environmental monitoring of legal provisions and audit results should be made public.
