KATHMANDU: Summit Air’s plane has been avoided an accident today. The plane of Summit Air that flew from Kathmandu to Lukla was returned to Kathmandu after an engine failure and landed safely in Kathmandu airport.
The flight number 9N-AMP took off from Kathmandu at 11:47 am on Sunday.
The plane was diverted to Kathmandu after the left engine failed during the flight. The plane was carrying 15 passengers, including 10 foreigners, five Nepalis and three crew members made an emergency landing in Kathmandu, airport sources said.
The airport was closed for about 10 minutes. According to airport sources, all the passengers and crew members on board are safe.
The plane is now grounded. Summit Air has now four aircrafts. It operates flights from Kathmandu to Lukla and Pokhara to Jomsom. Likewise, it also operates limited number of flights in western himalayan destinations.
