Test through RDT begins in every district: Health Ministry

Kathmandu: Examination for Corona Virus through rapid diagnostic test (RDT) has been started in all the 77 districts of the country, said the Ministry of Health and Population.

Tests of 27,471 suspected people have been conducted across the country (19,454 through RDT and 8017 through polymerase chain reaction), said the Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Bikash Devkota at the regular press conference organised by the Ministry here today.

Altogther 4,536 suspected people have been quarantined across the country, and 117 have been kept in isolation (five in the Kathmandu Valley and 112 outside).

Concerns of 3,021 people relating to COVID-19 have been addressed through toll free numbers 1115 and 1133 set up by the Ministry, he said.

Twenty thousand one hundred thirty people have self-evaluated themselves about the virus through mobile apps and the ministry’s website. Two hundred fifty four people have been put in zed zone based on the self-assessment.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 30 with 14 cases on Friday (12 in Udayapur and two in Chitwan districts).

Of the infected, two have been recovred and 28 are receiving treatment at various health institutions across the country (one at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku, two at Patan hospital, five in Dhangadhi, four in Birgunj, two in Bhaktapur and 12 in Biratnagar). Health condition of all the infected is normal, said Dr Devkota.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has urged media not to disclose identity of the infected people for security reason, he said. The Ministry has also asked people to stay home to be safe from the virus.
