Ukrainian duo conquers Ama Dablam’s West Face

Kathmandu, Nov 4: Ukrainian climbing Mykyta Balabanov and Mykhailo Fomin have successfully scaled a new route on Ama Dablam’s formidable West Face. After five grueling days of climbing, they reached the summit on November 1, 2024.

Ama Dablam, often called the “Matterhorn of the Himalayas,” is celebrated for its breathtaking beauty and technical challenges. The West Face, in particular, holds a reputation among climbers for its steep and complex terrain.

Mykyta and Mykhailo are celebrated as the winners of the prestigious Piolet d’Or award for their remarkable ascent of the Southeast Ridge of Annapurna III in 2021.

Seven Summit Treks have said that it was honored to have provided logistical support for these incredible climbers. Their awe-inspiring journey was facilitated by Kailas Gear, who equipped them with the finest tools for their climb.
