UML obstructs NA session over PM’s statement

Kathmandu, July 6: Today’s session of the National Assembly was adjourned following the obstruction from the CPN (UML).

Once the meeting convened, the CPN (UML) members stood from their respective seats, gesturing the protest. NA Chair Ganensh Prasad Timilsina granted time to Bhairabh Sundar Shrestha to air his views.

The lawmaker said, “Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ statement in a public programme few days back was against the interest of the nation.” Terming the Prime Minister’s remark inappropriate, he said it was the decision of the UML parliamentary party to disapprove it.

The UML lawmakers refused to take their seats, despite the frequent requests from the Chair to stop the protest and take their seats. The Chair assured that he would create an atmosphere for summoning the Prime Minister and listening to his views on the issue. He urged the UML to allow the upper house conduct the business bearing in mind the sensitivity of the budget.

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, was scheduled to present the ‘Power Trade Bill, 2080 BS’ before the NA session today.
Likewise it planned for deliberations on the budget allocations to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. The next session has been scheduled for 12:29 pm of Friday, July 7. RSS
