Surkhet : The Rautes living in the forest of Gurash rural municipality in Dailekh district have been provided with warm clothes and nutritious food after the Rautes’ chief called for humanitarian assistance.

The children of this nomadic tribe began falling sick due to biting cold. As a result, the community’s Mukhiya (Chief) Surya Narayan Shahi brought the dire situation to the light of the humanitarian organizations.

Raute Utthan Pratisthan Nepal Chairperson Satyadevi Khadka shared that they distributed clothes including blankets and food items as rice, wheat flour and butter among others reaching out to the Rautes in their settlements.

Various social organizations and Good Samaritans have contributed to this cause, informed Khadka, adding that goods amounting to Rs 450,000 were purchased and distributed to the Rautes.

Mukhiya Shahi informed that children were hit hard with the sharp decline in the temperature.

“We used to spend the entire winter in a single clothes but in lack of warm clothes, the children in our community started falling sick,” said Shahi, expressing his gratitude,” The warm clothes and food items have brought some respite.”

Foundation Chairperson Khadka urged one and all to help save lives of the engendered communities.
