KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has formally decided to expel the local level people’s representatives and central members who have recently changed parties.
An emergency meeting of the Central Committee held on virtual basis on Monday formalized the decision to expel them from the party.
There are 14 people’s representatives who won the election from the UCPN (Maoist Centre) and later joined the CPN (UML).
Earlier, a meeting of the Central Committee had given Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ the right to take action against those who left the party. According to the same authority, the Maoist Centre had informed the Election Commission about the action. However, the Commission did not issue a notice of resignation saying that the meeting of the Central Committee had not decided on the action.
Central member Yuvaraj Dulal, who participated in the Central Committee meeting from Melamchi, said that the decision to expel the local level people’s representatives and central members from the party has been formalized.
UCPN (Maoist Centre) leader Dev Gurung said that it was decided to take action against those who had changed their party.
On Sunday, the UCPN (Maoist Centre) leaders met the Election Commission officials and drew their attention to the issue, saying that the Election Commission had not published the information about the expelled leaders.
Among the action taken by UCPN (Maoist Centre) are Mayors Rina Kumari Sah (Maulapur, Rautahat), Siyaram Kushbaha (Debahi Gonahi, Rautahat) and Chairman Shesh Farukh (Samsi, Mahottari). Likewise, Deputy mayors Paraniya Devi, Gauri Shankar Jayasawal, Kanti Devi, Simal Sah and Gita Devi Sah were also listed for action.
