Kathmandu: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh, hosted a high-level networking dinner at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel to promote bilateral trade and investment cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal during the ongoing South Asia Trade Fair 2026.
The event brought together leading Nepali businesspersons, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, diplomats, and representatives from major business organizations, including the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, and Nepal Foreign Trade Association.
A total of 24 Bangladeshi companies participating in the regional trade fair showcased Bangladesh’s expanding export-oriented manufacturing industries, including ready-made garments, handicrafts, jute and jute products, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and leather goods.
Addressing the gathering, Md. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the importance of strengthening Bangladesh–Nepal economic connectivity through enhanced trade, investment, and regional cooperation. He highlighted Bangladesh’s emergence as one of Asia’s competitive manufacturing and export hubs and stressed the vast untapped potential for collaboration in sectors such as agro-processing, energy, pharmaceuticals, tourism, ICT, seafood, and frozen fish exports.

The Ambassador also noted that improved regional connectivity and trade facilitation measures, including the use of land ports such as Banglabandha Land Port, are helping create smoother trade flows and new business opportunities for both nations. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and investors from both countries.
An interactive networking session and business discussions followed the formal remarks, allowing Bangladeshi exhibitors and Nepali entrepreneurs to explore investment partnerships and expand bilateral business cooperation.
Earlier in the day, the Embassy also organized a Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting at the Embassy premises between Bangladeshi enterprises participating in the trade fair and prominent Nepali business leaders. The session focused on strengthening commercial engagement, expanding market access, and identifying new avenues for trade and investment cooperation between the two South Asian neighbors. #nepal
