Dr. Sudha Gautam, Bablu Gupta sworn in as ministers in Karki cabinet

Kathmandu, Oct 26: Two newly appointed ministers took the oath of office and secrecy today.

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath to the newly appointed Minister for Health and Population, Dr. Sudha Sharma, and the Minister for Youth and Sports, Bablu Gupta, during a special ceremony held at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.

Earlier this morning, four ministers were expected to take the oath, but only two were sworn in at the last moment. However, the names of Khagendra Sunar and Ganapatilal Shrestha were dropped later following controversy surrounding them. The government has not issued any official statement regarding the decision.

Dr. Sharma was a former Secretary at the Ministry of Health, while Gupta is a leading figure of the recent “Gen Z Movement.” They were appointed by President Paudel upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

With today’s expansion, the number of ministers in the current Council of Ministers, formed on Bhadra 27, has reached 10. The cabinet was previously expanded on Bhadra 30 and Ashoj 6.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Karki, Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, ministers, heads and officials of constitutional bodies, senior government officers, and chiefs and representatives of security agencies. #nepal #cabinet #SushilaKarki
