Minister Saud embarking on Qatar visit, Bipin’s release top agenda

Kathmandu, Nov 29: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nepal, NP Saud, has pledged to intensify efforts from the government- level to ensure the release of Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi who is currently held captive by the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Israel.

Today, the Minister met with Joshi’s parents in Mahendranagar of Kanchanpur. According to Minister’s Secretariat, he is set to visit Qatar on December 9.

On November 24, Minister had specially urged Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, who had arrived here on November 23 on the two-day official visit, to take initiatives for the release of Bipin Joshi from the captivity of Hamas.

In response, the Qatar’s state minister assured of his prompt initiations for Joshi’s release.

Prior to this, the Minister summoned the Israel’s ambassador to Nepal on Thursday to talk on the same matter. Nepali student Joshi from Kanchanpur in the Suduarpashim Province was held hostage in Israel by the Hamas on October 7 and a total of 10 Nepali students were killed in the assault by the rebel group.

Qatar is facilitating in the ceasefire in the conflict in Gaza and the efforts to liberate those remaining in the confinement of Hamas.

In Qatar, the Foreign Minister will attend a two-day 21st edition of Doha Forum commencing on December 10.
