NEAJA’s 19th Anniversary Celebrated in Dallas, USA

Kathmandu, April 23: The Nepal America Journalists Association (NEAJA) has successfully celebrated its founding day and 19th anniversary with a series of programs.

The event was held on April 18 and 19 in Dallas, Texas, featuring the “NEAJA Conclave 2026,” a dialogue on diaspora investment in Nepal, and a blood donation program. NEAJA is a common platform of active Nepali journalists based in North America.

The Conclave 2026 focused on major challenges in journalism—connectivity, information flow, and unity—as its core discussion themes.

In the first panel discussion, “Rambler” publisher John Starkey, media expert Robert Woller, Houston-based professional journalism society coordinator Ruth Nasrullah, “The Texas Tribune” editor Nick Garcia, and Austin Luiter shared their perspectives on the role of media in diversity and community engagement.

The second session featured discussions on “Nepal’s presence in global media, representation, and the global perspective of Nepali journalism.” Speakers including Prakash Acharya, Yashoda Timsina, Pramod Acharya, Tanka Dhakal, and Rajan Kuinkel presented their views.

Similarly, in the third panel, Professor Indrajit Suleja and Mujib Kazi spoke on community media management and its growing relevance.

On the second day, a special discussion on diaspora investment in Nepal was organized with joint participation from Nepali entrepreneurs and media professionals. The program was facilitated by the Nepali Embassy, aiming to encourage US-based Nepali businesspersons to invest in Nepal. Participants were briefed on the current investment climate, and key suggestions were collected to improve the environment.

During the session, business representatives emphasized the need to ensure property rights for Nepalis holding foreign citizenship to attract more foreign investment into Nepal.

Representing the government, Consul General Suresh Adhikari and Acting Ambassador Sharad Raj Aran expressed commitment to addressing existing challenges. They assured continued support to Nepali entrepreneurs and pledged to advocate for a more investment-friendly environment.

Concluding the event, NEAJA President Suraj Bhandari stated that the organization has moved beyond traditional ways of celebrating its anniversary and adopted a more dynamic approach. He also committed to making such programs more impactful and effective in the future. #NEAJA #nepal
