OKHALDHUNGA: A pregnant woman of Khijidemba village of Okhaldhunga has been rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter. Lhamu Sherpa, 26, of Khijidemba-5 was rescued and sent to Kathmandu after the labor pains increased due to her inability to give birth under normal circumstances.

Sherpa, who is 36 weeks pregnant, started having labor pains a few days ago. The family had brought her to Khijifalante Covid hospital as she was about to give birth and was suffering from mental problems as well. Indra Gautam, head of the health branch of the village municipality, informed that they have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment due to lack of resources at the village level.

The rescue operation was carried out by a Nepal Army helicopter under the coordination of the District Administration Office, Okhaldhunga under the Presidential Women Rescue Program. The woman, who was rescued and sent to Kathmandu on Saturday, is currently undergoing treatment at Thapathali Maternity Hospital in Kathmandu.
