Kathmandu, Nepal — Renowned Nepali social worker Radha Matangi, Chairperson of Community Development Center Nepal (CDCN), has been honored with the prestigious “Best NGO Award” at an international ceremony held in Bihar, India, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to social service and disaster response in Nepal.
With more than 25 years of dedicated service in the social sector, Matangi has devoted her life to supporting the poorest, most vulnerable, marginalized, and disaster-affected communities across the country. Her work has reached people facing extreme poverty, homelessness, hunger, disability, and humanitarian crises.
Under her leadership, CDCN — along with organizations she previously served — played a crucial role during major national disasters, including the devastating 2015 Nepal Earthquake, as well as floods, landslides, and other emergency situations. The organization has provided emergency relief materials, food, shelter, medical assistance, psychosocial support, and long-term rehabilitation services to thousands of affected families.
Matangi is widely respected for her grassroots approach, transparency, and strong commitment to community empowerment. She has led numerous initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, child protection, education, health services, livelihood support, and disaster risk reduction, aiming to build an inclusive society where no one is left behind.
The award ceremony in Bihar recognized her tireless humanitarian efforts, cross-border impact, and the positive social change brought about through Community Development Center Nepal. Organizers described her as a symbol of hope, resilience, and compassionate leadership for vulnerable communities.
Speaking after receiving the award, Matangi said that the honor belongs to her entire team and the communities she serves. She reaffirmed her commitment to continuing her work in social justice, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development in Nepal.
This international recognition marks a proud moment for Nepal and highlights the importance of community-based development and ethical leadership. Supporters and well-wishers have expressed hope that her future efforts will bring even greater positive change to society.
Community Development Center Nepal (CDCN) expressed heartfelt gratitude to the award organizers and extended special thanks to Mr. S. K. Chaudhary, S. K. Chaudhary Educational Trust, Krisho Bigyan Kendra, and Chanpura, Madhubani, Bihar, for the invitation and recognition. #nepal
