A commission formed to investigate the Yeti Airlines plane crash in Pokhara on Sunday has begun work. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Spokesperson Jagannath Niraula, the ‘Plane Accident Investigation Commission’ has started its job.

The plane’s ‘black box’ was found this morning and the object have been already handed to the Commission. The reading of aeroplane’s black box following an aviation accident is considered vital to determine the cause of the incident as it records the activities of plane during flight. It has two separate boxes: flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder.

The government on Sunday constituted a five-member investigation commission coordinated by former Secretary Nagendra Ghimire following the crash.
Its members are aviation experts Deepak Prakash Bastola (retired Nepal Army major general) and Sunil Thapa (retired captain) and aeronautical engineer Ekraj Jung Thapa. Other members include joint-secretary (Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation) Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane.

The team has been assigned to study the accident, determine causes and recommend ways for preventing such case in the future. It has 45 days to conclude the assignment. The Commission was formed in line with the Civil Aviation (Accident Investigation) Regulation, 2071 B.S, it is said.RSS
