TIA would be made a model airport in terms of cleanliness: Civil Aviation Minister

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale today said that the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) would be made a model airport in terms of cleanliness.

He said this while handing certificates to the participants of a two-week international-standard sanitation training. One hundred and fifty-two cleaning staff including the employees from the private sector and working at the TIA attended the training.

“We have put to an end the situation of tourists arriving at the airport to cover their nose. It is the responsibility of the cleaning staff to keep the airport neat and clean. I urge you to make the maximum use the skills and knowledge learnt in course of the training. I will support you in this,” he said, stressing on the need of keeping the airport clean for enhancing the nation’s dignity.

The Civil Aviation Minister also claimed that many good works have been done regarding beatifying the airport under his directives.
In this connection, he referred to the laying of foundation for construction of a terminal building, operation of baggage belt and construction of water fountains.

Certificates were given away to 70 participants of the first phase training today. The next phase of the training will start from Thursday.
