KATHMANDU: The Sudurpaschim State Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta has received a vote of confidence in the state assembly. In the state assembly meeting held on Tuesday, 30 lawmakers voted in favor of his request for a vote of confidence.
Thirty lawmakers, including 13 from the CPN (Maoist Centre) and 17 from the Madhav Kumar Nepal group of the CPN (UML), have voted for Chief Minister Bhatta.
In the 52-member state assembly, 12 members of the Nepali Congress remained neutral. Seven members of the CPN (UML)’s Oli faction and two members of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) voted against the chief minister. The CPN-UML’s state assembly parliamentary party had decided to give a vote of confidence to the chief minister.
However, the CPN (UML) Oli faction of Sudurpaschim State Committee had directed the lawmakers to vote against the Chief Minister Bhatta. The party had also issued whip in this regard.
The UML MPs Pathan Singh Bohra, Nepalu Chaudhary, Liladhar Bhatta, Maya Tamang, Gyalbu Bohara, Ratan Thapa and Baldev Regmi voted in the opposition.
