KATHMANDU: A Constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana has been constituted to hear the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Supreme Court judges Deepak Kumar Karki, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Tej Bahadur KC and Bam Kumar Shrestha have been included in the Constitutional bench.

According to Supreme Court, the court is set to hear the writ petition beginning from today i.e. Friday.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday decided to take up all the cases against the dissolution of House by President Bidya Devi Bhandari in the Constitutional bench.

Earlier, a Constitutional bench reinstated the dissolved House of Representatives. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has recommended for the dissolution of the House second time citing he had lost confidence in the House. He has also proposed the election on coming November.

However, the opposition parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), a faction of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and another faction of Madhav Kumar Nepal with CPN (UML) has filed writ petition arguing that the move of KP Sharma Oli was unconstitutional and undemocratic.

They have attached a signature of 146-MPs in favour of Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of Nepali Congress, for the future Prime Minister.
