KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has stated that it would soon decide the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) dispute over the authenticity of the party.
The EC has stated that formal and informal discussions regarding the issue were already underway and the dispute would be resolved soon.
Both the factions of NCP (Prachanda-Madhav and Oli faction) have claimed them as official party. The top leaders of both faction have already discussed with the EC on this issue. However, the EC has undecided upon this issue.
The EC spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha shared that the election body was now not much under pressure due to time constraint as when it was working for midterm election before the court’s verdict.
According to the EC spokesperson, the Supreme Court’s verdict of restoration of the parliament has made the EC comfortable to fully focus on resolving the dispute.
The EC was working for midterm elections preparations before the court’s verdict.
Without the Election Commission’s decision, there is confusion over the future of forming new government. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that he would not resign but face parliament. Both groups have been claiming that they have majority in the party.
