Ministers assigned with additional portfolios

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has assigned additional responsibilities to the ministers while taking responsibilities of two ministries himself.

Prime Minister Oli has taken the responsibility of Defense Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while has assigned Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel to look after Home Ministry, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, and Ministry of Energy, Hydro Resources and Irrigation.

Similarly, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport Basant Kumar Nembang is to look after Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Ministry of Urban Development.

Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha has additional responsibilities- of Ministry of Forest and Environment, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labour and Employment, and Ministry of Health and Population.

Moreover, Minister Lilanath Shrestha is assigned the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The Supreme recently annulled the expansion of the Cabinet which PM Oli did on June 4 and 11. The SC annulled the Cabinet expansion, reasoning it was against the letter and spirit of the Constitution.
