Hetauda, July 13: Authorities have suspended traffic on several major highways in Makawanpur district due to the heightened risk of landslides caused by continuous rainfall.

According to a notice issued by the District Administration Office (DAO), Makawanpur, all types of vehicles travelling towards Kathmandu via Daman–Palung along the Tribhuvan Highway have been prohibited from 5:00 p.m. on Monday until 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Assistant Chief District Officer Mohan Raj Joshi said a police team deployed from Chowkitol in Hetauda has been instructed to enforce the restriction by preventing vehicles from travelling towards Kathmandu and Bhimphedi during the specified hours.

The administration has also imposed a nightly traffic ban on the Kanti Highway, which connects Hetauda and Kathmandu. Under the restriction, all types of vehicles are prohibited from using the highway between 5:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. each day until further notice.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the precautionary measure has been taken to minimise the risk to travellers as persistent monsoon rains have increased the likelihood of landslides along the highways.

Authorities have urged motorists to follow official advisories and avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve. #nepal #disaster #landslide
