POKHARA: The current winter session of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly has come to an end. On the recommendation of the state government, the State Chief Amik Sherchan ended the convention effective from 12 midnight on April 14.
Secretary Hariraj Pokharel informed that the letter was received from the office of the State Chief and registered at the State Assembly secretariat at 10:35 am today.
Opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress, are preparing to register a no-confidence motion against the present government led by CPN UML’s Prithvi Subba Gurung. According to reports, Chief Minister Gurung’s government have been facing crisis after parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajwadi Party and Chitra Bahadur KC led Rastriya Janamorcha have withdrawn support.
Meanwhile, the opposing parties have registered a motion of no confidence against the Chief Minister Gurung. They have proposed Krishna Chandra Nepali from Nepali Congress for the new Chief Minister.
In the Gandaki Provice, Nepali Congress has 15, Maoist Centre has 11 and JSP has 2 seats. Rastriya Janamorcha has 3 seats.
The province has a total of 60 seats.
